The Car - Part 2

When we first laid eyes on the Vegginator at Dan's Auto Wholesale in Middleton, NH, it was love at first sight. Of course, Kent had to tear me away from the Lincoln Town Car Dan had off to the side, but we were pretty sure this cream-colored Mercedes 300D Turbodiesel was the car for us. With only 208,000 or so miles on it, it was practically new, and the perfect candidate for a wvo conversion.

Dan helped things along by fixing a leak in the brake line that Kent had discovered when he tried to stop during our test drive. Oops. Dan was also able to secure a couple of used tires good enough to get us back to Cambridge. We picked it up the next week.

When we got there Dan wasn't around, but he left us a nice note about spraying ether under the the throttle cover if we needed a boost to get it started. Which we did (we later learned that this is a BAD THING to do to a diesel, but it's survived).

We got the car back to Cambridge and got it registered and inspected and most important, stuck a Cambridge Parking Sticker on it so I could get it out of my driveway. We even drove it once in a while.
