Kent and I immediately thought of everyone we knew who would have fun and be fun on the journey. Then we realized that we probably couldn't buy a roadworthy bus for $250, so we'd have to shorten the list.
In the end it came down to the three of us Adam, Kent & Richard. Our connection dates back to preschool days at the always fabulous Newtowne Preschool in Cambridge (that's for our kids, not us). Since then we've vacationed together (with families and other friends) at the Sunset Cabins on Damariscotta Lake, we've been in a regular poker game (Richard is ahead in winnings) just generally enjoyed each others company. We're sure the trip won't change that.

The Vegginator is a 1983 Mercedes 300D, recently converted to run on waste vegetable oil. Richard and Kent and Adam are driving it to New Orleans in the BABE Rally (that's Big Apple to Big Easy) Memorial Day Weekend, 2007. This is our story. Correction: Kent is ahead in poker winnings over the last 10 years. Everyone else THINKS they are ahead in winnings. Dick "The Tight-an" Brown keeps scrupulous records and is proudly ahead by $1.59 since inception, still waiting to make his first bluff.
